Manganese greensand 20kg per sack. Manganese greensand function is to eliminate the content of manganese (Mn 2+), Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide which looks like the top layer of oily in the drinking water or groundwater or water taps or mountain water.
Manganese Greensand is a special sand coated with a catalyst material. Manganese Greensand use this layer to react with iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide in the water and form a precipitate which is then trapped in the filter media. Manganese Greensand must be regenerated with potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) to rejuvenate the back layer. We always recommend that a water softener (softener) is installed after the filter to remove Ferrous Bicarbonate (FeCO2) who escaped from the filter.
Manganese Greensand also would eliminate a number of Hydrogen Sulfide. However, we only recommend Manganese Greensand to remove hydrogen sulfide on specific water problems.
Manganese Greensand formulated from glauconite greensand which is capable of reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from water through oxidation and filtration. Dissolved iron and manganese are oxidized by contact with high manganese oxide granules greensand. Hydrogen sulfide is reduced by oxidation to sulfur precipitate dissolved. The precipitate is then filtered and removed by backwashing. When the oxidizing power capacity Manganese Greensand media expires, the media must be regenerated with a dilute solution of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) to restore the ability of oxidation. 1 ½ to 2 ounces of potassium permanganate solution per cubic 30cm Manganese Greensand is considered sufficient for normal regneration. In this case needs to be done backwash and regeneration of the media during the process of service and before the oxidation ability is completely depleted. Operation of the media after oxidation ability exhausted will reduce the life and may cause staining.
