Manganese greensand 25L per bag. The function of Manganese greensand is to eliminate Manganese (Mn2 +) content, Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide which looks like an oily top layer in drinking water or ground water or PDAM water or mountain water.
Manganese Greensand is a special sand coated with catalyst material. Manganese Greensand uses this layer to react with iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide in water and form precipitates which are then trapped in filter media. Manganese Greensand must be regenerated with potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) to rejuvenate the layer again. We always recommend that a water softener (softener) be installed after a filter to remove Ferrous Bicarbonate (FeCO2) that passes from the filter.

Manganese Greensand will also remove a certain amount of Hydrogen Sulfide. However, we only recommend Manganese Greensand to remove Hydrogen Sulfide in special water problems.

Manganese Greensand is formulated from greensand glauconite which is able to reduce iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from water through oxidation and filtration. The dissolved iron and manganese are oxidized by contact with high manganese oxides in greensand granules. Hydrogen sulfide is reduced by oxidation to dissolved sulfur deposits. These deposits are then filtered and removed by backwashing. When the Manganese Greensand media oxidizing capacity is exhausted, this medium must be regenerated with a dilute potassium permanganate solution (KMnO4) so ​​as to restore oxidation ability. 1 ½ to 2 ounces of potassium permanganate in a solution per 30 cm cubic Manganese Greensand is considered sufficient for normal regneration. In this case, it is necessary to backwash and regenerate the media during the service process and before the oxidation capability is completely depleted. The operation of the media after the oxidation ability is exhausted will reduce the age and can cause staining.
